Scarfolk council - backwards, yet I can relate to them...

So Scarfolk council is a website for "a town in North West England that did not progress beyond 1979". It's a slice of very tongue in cheek humour, well worth a browse.

When more than one poster made me think "Sometimes, that's needed on our walls", I thought it worth sharing even though it isn't specifically museum or heritage related. NO may need to be added to the staff room...

Beating Blue Monday with some Bewildering 'Art'

You start off reading about a woman who posed nude in front of a nude painting, and end up pondering if you personally count "dancing around in front of the Eiffel Tower with a live rooster attached to his penis with a ribbon." as art.

#MuseumSelfie day returns on January 20th

It's baaaack... On January 20th twitter and instagram feeds will get a burst of fun from #MuseumSelfie day. (also, some places that use tumblr join in as well, some of my fave finds from last year are here) 

"Whether you work in a museum, are a museum mascot or one of the lovely visitors - post your pictures using #MuseumSelfie!" Find out more here.

It's a bit sad that CultureThemes has to clarify: "Do not make this a political debate on photos not allowed in museums/galleries or that your local museum is closed on a Wednesday."

It sounds like some people have misunderstood "fun" and "promoting culture" or have willfully tried to hijack it...

Get involved, even if you just browse for the images, since they are usually fun, inventive, sometimes offer a look behind the scenes and can provide a new perspective on some objects and roles.
