The Guardian paper is known by many for offering good jobs in the creative sector, and the areas many of us are interested in. Recently in a Q&A session they ran online, they carved out some good basic information and ideas on getting a career in the museum sector. Well worth a flick through to look at things in a new light or re-evaluate how you are applying and trying for roles.

So, this is the winning entry from those people who dropped me their stories about working in museums, galleries and the likes, and to the anonymous person who wouldn’t name their place of work – I thank you! Not only a failed display, but also a failure to communicate with the public, and a usually mild mannered curator of art terrifying the staff... If you know who and where this is, please don’t get anyone into trouble for revealing their staff room antics.
"Worried about rioters? I doubt they'll bother with us. We're uphill, don't have any sportswear or electrical goods and aren't enough of an authority figure to be set on fire. If they do fancy attacking a building designed to withstand entire armies, that is half full of weaponry, and partly staffed by people who spend their weekends using said weaponry, more fool them..."
Nice to know your friends are safe! "I know, that you know, that I can't SEE what you are doing but I can HEAR what you are doing. I can HEAR a display cabinet being bumped into and I KNOW you're up to no good. STOP. IT. NOW."
"..........sorry........" Why put the fear of God into kids when you can apply the fear of Exhibition Manager? Summer holidays, eeesh. |
