It began in Edinburgh in 2011, "primarily as a response to library closures and cutbacks." where her sculptures were accompanied by labels in which she referenced the power of literacy, and in some, argued against cuts to arts funding. Since then she has created and left more pieces in specific locations, including museums, the War Poets Collection, the Scottish Seabird Center... with tags attached explaining their references or inspirations. Her mission statement is simply "In support of libraries, books, words and ideas" and the works are intended to draw attention to libraries, galleries and museums rather than the artist herself. When forced to accept money in return for a commission from the Scottish Book Trust in 2012, she told the BBC that she used the fee to pay for her own time, to allow her to create 30 more free sculptures. Interview and details are here: on the BBC website. Extra details also from here.
